HOLIDAY INN
One Route 46 West
Totowa, NJ 07512
Tel: 973-785-9000
Fax: 973-785-3031
Pricing: Not yet available
Web site: http://www.holidayinn.com/hotels/us/en/totowa/totnj/hoteldetail
Our Recommendation: One of the better hotels in the area. On par with the Ramada Hotel described above, if not better. However, is often costlier, usually in the $100-$120/night range. Much closer to Montclair State University (just about 2 to 3 miles away). Despite being closest, having own car is recommended as road design is complicated by Route 46 highway design, which makes access by foot a bit difficult. However, bus access to Montclair State University is possible. A sample bus trip could be:
Depart : PATERSON AVE AT MADISON AVE at 8:46 AM
Board : Bus No 704M toward WAYNE WILLOWBROOK VIA MC BRIDE-Exact Fare
Arrive : MAPLE ST AT MAIN ST at 8:47 AM
Depart : MAIN ST AT MAPLE ST at 8:56 AM
Board : Bus No 705 toward PASSAIC BUS TERMINAL-Exact Fare
Arrive : MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY at 9:05 AM
To find route for other times, or to ensure accuracy, go to the NJ TRansit Web site (http://www.njtransit.com) and enter the Hotel Address as your departure point and Montclair State University address (1 Normal Avenue, Montclair, NJ 07043) as your terminus.
Other Hotels
The following hotels are of lesser quality and are better for participants with their own car.
HOWARD JOHNSON
680 Route 3 West
Clifton, NJ 07014
Tel: 973-471-3800
Fax: 973-471-2128
Pricing: $79/night
Our Recommendation: A step down from the the Ramada Hotel previously mentioned, this hotel has only one major advantage: it is located on Route 3, which is a direct highway to New York City just a few 15 miles away (City visible from here). Commercial bus companies such as DeCamp serve this route. Another advantage is easyand quick access to Montclair State University by bus. A sample itinerary to Montclair State University could be:
Depart : RT-3 1740′ W OF PASSAIC AVE. at 8:05 AM
Board : Bus No 191 toward LITTLE FALLS WILLOWBROOK VIA MONTCLAIR HTS
Arrive : MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY at 8:19 AM.
To find route for other times, or to ensure accuracy, go to the NJ TRansit Web site (http://www.njtransit.com) and enter the Hotel Address as your departure point and Montclair State University address (1 Normal Avenue, Montclair, NJ 07043) as your terminus.
KINGS INN HOTEL
320 Route 46 East
Wayne, NJ 07470
Tel: 973-256-7500
Fax: 973-256-1035
Pricing: $69/night
Our Recommendation: Located in the vicinity of the Ramada Hotel, just about 5 miles from Montclair State University. Not the cleanest nor most luxurious hotel to say the least. Only advantage is pricing and the mall closeby for restaurants and entertainment. Price could be pushed down to $65/night if 10 conference participants satyed here. However, if you do not have a car to drive yourself to the campus of Montclair State University, not recommended. Still, a bus stop at the closeby mall makes it possible to get to Montclair State University by bus. Visit the NJ TRansit Web site (http://www.njtransit.com) and enter the Hotel Address as your departure point and Montclair State University address (1 Normal Avenue, Montclair, NJ 07043) as your terminus.
Directions to Montclair State University
The conference will be held on the campus of Montclair State University, New Jersey, located 30 minutes west of midtown Manhattan and easily accessible by ground transportation from there, or from Newark and JFK airports.
Montclair State University’s 200-acre campus commands a hilltop in suburban Montclair. Broad lawns, flowers, trees, a natural stone amphitheater and buildings that date from the early years of the century to the most modern provide an attractive academic setting. The New York City skyline can be seen to the east. Just 14 miles away, New York offers all the cultural, social and artistic resources of one of the world’s foremost cities. And, closer at hand, the lively business and cultural communities of northern New Jersey are open to our students and visitors.
